XBOX 360 Slim Un-boxing

Microsoft’s XBOX 360 Slim has landed and we got our grubby little hands on one.

First thing we noticed when we opened the box is how shiny and glossy it is, but after some inspection we found 2 USB ports on the front and 3 more on the back.  That’s a total of 5 USB ports; 2 more than it’s bigger brother.  The power and the eject buttons are capacitive touch sensitive.  Also the control binding button is bigger and easier to press but missing from the front are the Memory unit ports.

On the back are HDMI, A/V, Ethernet, Optical Audio out and Kinect ports. I know, you’re asking what’s Kinect? Well if you been living under rock someplace it’s the Microsoft new full body motion controller formally name Natal now name Kinect if want more info on that will follow after it’s released to the public.

The internals…. Well only what we are interested in are the wireless N network adapter and the new hard drive which we mention earlier is located at the bottom of the unit not the top like the older XBOX 360s and its not visible like the older ones were.

When turned on the unit just hums very softly almost to the point where you can’t hear it. Start up time seems to be about the same. All in all as far as design goes it looks very sexy which is unlike Microsoft.

Over all the new XBOX 360 Slim is very nice to look at and very quiet to listen to and for us it’s a definite buy.

Sony MW600 Review

This is the MW600 Bluetooth Hands Free device made by Sony, which retails for about $70 or so but check online for cheaper prices.

Some of the highlights of this device include touch sensitive volume controls, built in mic, the ability to connect to 3 devices at once via blue tooth, a 3.5 mm headphone jack this means you can use your favorite headphones with it and battery life is around 10hrs.

So far we have managed to connect the device to an HTC EVO, iPod Touch, and a PSP Go. One thing to note is that the performance is excellent on these devices especially on the PSP GO and the HTC EVO but the iPod Touch is lacking when it comes to video play back where the audio is out of sync, but overall it performs well. Call quality is clear on both ends.

In our opinion this is a definite buy. One of our editors manage to pick one in NY for $50 (plus tax of course!).
